Lazy Susan

This little goodie found me at Goodwill just after Thanksgiving.

She finally got a little love this past week.

I trimmed her up; spray painted and applied a coat of polyurethane.
Attached a lazy susan to her bottom and placed her on top of the kitchen table.
However, I’m not sure I like her there. She has no lip around the base, keeping items from flying off after you ask your 5 year old for a napkin. And her top table I am at loss on how to use.
I did place taco toppings on it last night.
So any ideas on what else to do with her?

Maybe in the kids craft closet for storage? Or a very fancy Sit-n-Spin {smile}?

  1. I love it. Speaking of craft closet. You could get some mason jars, I get mine at Goodwill, and fill them with markers, pens, paint brushes and put it on there.
    I think it is fantastic!

  3. This is so cute! I'm sure it came in really handy for taco night! Is it too tall to just put a table centerpiece on top?...nothing too tall, maybe some candles or small potted plant? You just have to use it somewhere if you decide to take it off the table! It's just too cute!

  4. I think it looks amazing. I like what you did for taco night, sounds like the top is "reserved" for those special dinners. Looks great with the place mats.

  8. This came out beautiful, Kate! I thought it was a table when you first showed it! You could use it for crafts ~ I've seen where people repurpose a Lazy Susan for that. It also looks like it would be great for displaying desserts.

  11. Maybe you could buy a can of the spray paint that is black that is a non-skid paint and then tape off some lines and spray it on the top and bottom then when you put things on it they won't go sailing across the room. Or you could use it for a craft room as you said- but glue the jars or cans to it so they don't fall off.
I think it would look very pretty in a bathroom with jars of "girlie things". It is very nice.
I like it there where you have it..you could get some non-skid rug tape and then tape it to the bottom of your items on there.

  12. I LOVE how this looks. I've actually been looking for a similar 2-tier style table for myself on craigslist. I'm hoping one can find it's way to my house. But the lazy susan, that is so ingenious and functional. Great job.

  14. I actually like it on the table but I can see the issue...it's going to get too tall too quickly if you start putting things on top. So I agree with a previous poster with the idea of putting a low lying flower container up there....

Or just move it to a counter or buffet, where it can serve the same purpose but not be so prone to potential flying hazards!

Imagine all the possibilities for this as a staging for holiday displays through the year. If you don't end up using it as a caddy, there are sure to be future brilliant moments for this beautifully transformed piece!

  15. What a great revamp! And it's so pretty too. I would pull it out on special occasions or even special week-ends and use it for hor d'oeuvres. Thanks for linkin' up...I love your thrifty finds!

  17. Ver cool piece. It looks beautiful and it's too bad it's not functional for you on the table. It look so cute. I'm trying to think of something you can use to add a lip... Mmmm. It could be cute in a bathroom to store cotton balls, make-up, etc.

  19. Seriously, how creative are you! I would have never thought to do that with a table.

Personally I love the fancy sit n spin idea!!

  20. I love kirsty's idea of using it for art supplies. The kids are constantly arguing over the boxes and this would certainly make it easier!

  21. You are brilliant! I never would have looked at that outdated table and thought, lazy susan. It turned out so pretty too. I'll be on the look out for that style of table now!

  22. Neat idea. I would probably use it for special occasions as a dessert stand...cookies, cupcakes, and such.

  23. Ok-I LOVE IT--I would try adding something like a thin piece of flexible tubing and attach it around the edge, then paint it so it looked like it was supposed to be there. On the top I would add a metal cloche and have a seasonal decor in it.
I have added your button to my side bar and would love to have you do the same.
