Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookies...Even Better!

Every so often a sweet little soul will drop by my office with the most amazing Chocolate Chip cookies.
Finally one afternoon I asked her what her secret was. She said “Dear, it’s just the tollhouse recipe from the side of the bag”

What? I have been making those for years and mine have never tested this de-lish!

“Well, I change it up just a bit.”

Please, do tell?

Guess what she does?

Adds an additional ¼ cup of flour, 2 tsp vanilla {rather than one}, and all shorting.
I gave it a try and have never looked back. It is by far the easiest, consistent best tasting chocolate chip cookie I make.

Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookies…Even Better!

2 ½ cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 Cup Shorting {no butter flavor}
¾ Cup sugar
¾ Cup Brown Sugar
2 tsp. Vanilla
2 Large Eggs
2 Cups Chocolate Chips

Beat sugars and shorting to well blended. Beat in eggs one at a time. Mix dry ingredients together and then mix into sugar mixture. Stir in chocolate chips.

Bake @ 375* for 10 min.
Meanwhile, as I was baking us a batch of these on Sunday afternoon, Gabe realized he could drag Hannah up and down the wood floors while she wore her new pink Snuggie.

I am thinking of getting a patient on this baby.

  2. My mom makes cookies just that exact same way! They ARE delicious. I don't use shortening in my own home, but that doesn't stop me from enjoying hers when we're visiting. :)
