I promise myself every year that I am not going to let it happen…I am not going to get sick of caring for my garden and throw in the towel.
But I am so tired of picking 200-300 of these EVERY Day!
Really….does anyone have any suggestions on what to do with this many cherry and grape tomatoes? Don’t get me wrong we have been sharing the love with anyone that will take a bowl, or two, full.
However I have yet to get tired of having vases full of these everywhere I look.
So any tips on how to use up these cuties would greatly be appreciated.
Thank you very much!

I wish you were my neighbor--I'd love some! But I have no idea other than chop them in half and freeze them to put in sauces later!
ReplyDeleteoh nice haul!
ReplyDeleteYou can dry them out in the oven and then pack them in oil?
My fave way to eat them is to slice them in half, add rice wine vinegar, EVOO, feta, salt, pepper and fresh basil. Serve over rice, chicken, steak etc.
I wish I lived closer too lol

Find someone who cans (unless you do that too!) and see if they'll work with you to make marinara sauce. You'll be able to enjoy the "fruits" of our labor throughout the year!
ReplyDeleteUGH! I can't help you there- we have 40 zucchini plants, so I have been putting those recipes on my blog.
ReplyDeleteYou can freeze or can your tomatoes for later- they will be good in sauces, soups, and stews!
Make a nice tomato chutney and put it in jars? You can make a nice tomato sauce and just freeze it too for later.
ReplyDeleteWhen we had the same problem, we did two things:
ReplyDelete1. Cut them in half and dehydrated them. We kept the little buggers in mason jars until we wanted to use them. At that point, we soaked them in boiling water for about 5 minutes until they softened up a little. They have made a HUGE difference in pastas and pizzas.
2. Take all of them and squeeze the juice out of them with a juicer. When we have other veggies, we throw those in, but even if it is just a TON of little cherry tomatoes, you can get quite a bit of juice out of them. After that, can the juice and later you can siphon off the water and make spaghetti sauce or marinara or tomato paste or use the juice in chili or any number of things.
I wish we had as many cherry tomatoes as you have! We've only gotten 2 single tomatoes this year.
