Bedlam...

I look forward to this weekend every year. Bedlam around this part of the country can get fierce! It had been 4 years sense we could claim the bedlam bell. Sadly, we did not sweep them but I was still just as happy with 2 out of 3 and ringing in that bell!

The kids and I headed up the turnpike Friday afternoon to T town. We had plans to catch up with some good friends of ours. Meeting up for a quick bite to eat at Ron's Hamburgers (Yumo)and then over to catch a few innings of their sons t-ball game. Hannah and Cade spent quite a few years hanging out with each other. And always love getting to see each other. It was great to see them again and he was able to come hang out with us at the bedlam game. OU had a great win that night in a sea of orange!

After crawling into bed at 2am Saturday morning Gabe was up at 7am! What is it with these kids of mine? They just do not understand the meaning of sleeping in. Needless to say we all had a nice nap that afternoon. After Gabe fought going down it was all I could do to get him up a 5:30 so we could make the 7pm game at Bricktown. But we did it and through the chill of the evening (66 in MAY) we pulled out another great victory. Thus sealing the deal that the Cowboy's would, for the first time, not make an appearance at the BIG 12 Tournament this year. They left the stadium that night with OU chanting "Season's Over" Yikes! I have been on that end and let me tell you it is not pretty.

Gabe enjoyed some time out on the field after the game playing a little catch with J.T.. He was fired up and ready to sign autographs, if anyone was to ask.


Sunday morning (Mother's Day) we got up early and drove to attend grandma's Sunday morning church service and lunch at her house. This was a nice treat as we thought we would miss seeing her that day. Gabe suited up and we headed back to the Brick. It was not the outcome we all had hoped. Even better we sat in a nice mist and 60* weather for 9 innings but it was just not meant to be. The day ended with Gabe getting to ride the team bus home. And me explaining to Hannah that this is like visiting the American Girl Doll Store for Gabe. She was happy for her brother and understood. And we all headed home.

My little man loves to help me all the time. And for the most part he does a great job for a four year old. Rather than him launching the juice boxes to the top shelf I figured that he would place them more at his eye level. Guess I was wrong.

We are off to Tulsa after school today. It's Bedlam weekend and OU vs. OSU will be there tonight (weather permitting). Looking forward to seeing all our old friends and crushing those Cowboy's!!

Cubbies Night!

Last night was Gabe's Awana Cubbies Award presentation. Amazingly he was able to complete the entire year. I will be honest, at first it was a challenge just to get him to sit still long enough to read the lesson.

He had such a great cubbie leader, Eva. Ms. Eva and Gabe really hit it off and this helped with his desire to learn, I have no doubt.

What an amazing program Awana's has been for us. It really helps each child hide the word of God in their heart. He was so proud to get his Cubbie bear and certificate with his name on it.

Next week Hannah will be recognized for her first year in Sparks.

This is another sign that summer is just around the cornner! We are looking forward to the slower weeks of not having to run here and there. But I welcome them back come mid August!

Redo!

I purchased these four frames a few weeks ago at my local new love, Goodwill. I remember this trip quite well. It was the most that I had every spent on any visit $14.30! I really was drawn to these frames. Maybe it was the Louisiana landscape, Or those groovy burlap wrapped mattes. No really it was the shape and construction of the frames and a price of $3 each. (high end prices for Goodwill!)

My plains were to clean them up and add a few coats of spray paint. Ya' know I have about 20 cans of that stuff in all sorts of colors. I just love the stuff! Plus it is a perk when the Wall-mart cashier cards you every time you buy it. It's always a nice pick-me-up!

Anyhow, I had planned to recover the mattes with a nice linen fabric and paint the frames my shabby chick black. I was on the lookout for some botanical prints to frame. After inhaling the fumes from painting them, I was coming back into the house and knocked down last years wall calendar that I had set aside. It was meant to be, at least for now, for this old calendar a new home. They ended up in Hubby's home office. I wonder how long it will be until he notices?

I only had three "working" frames. Upon taking them apart I shattered one peace of glass. So that frame found it's new home in the kiddo's hallway. Can you tell I really like black? For the longest time the kids would color me pictures at school all in Black. Black rainbows and clouds you name it. They new it was mommy's favorite color!

Giant Gumballs

Who wouldn't like a jar full of giant colorful gumballs?



The kiddo's helped me put together a few teacher gifts last night. If you have school aged children you are aware that it is teacher appreciation week . So with that being said I tried to come up with something cute and clever this year. If anything the kids REALLY got into it.


I took many different ideas that I came across online and combined them into this!


Printed off a cute little saying for each child and tied the mason jars up with a bit of ribbon and hot glue. After they write (draw) a sweet note of thanks to their teachers, they will get to have the joy of giving this gift to their teacher. Hannah was trying to think of everyone that has "touched" her life over this past 3rd grade year. Mark my word one day that girl will win an Oscar!




Any how for about $2.00 a jar it makes a nice thank you that's sure to bring a smile!

Our Garden...

At last our garden has been planted. Much later this year than last which turned out to be a good thing with a few late freezes that we had.

Here are our zucchini and cucumber plants all nestled in a row. We planted a new patch this year of strawberries so we shall see how those turn out. Along with the usual tomato, green pepper, squash, cantaloupe and onion. I have always planted potatoes but didn't get my seed potatoes in time this year. So we will miss digging out our fresh little new potatoes for me to pressure cook this year.

Yep, that's Gabe off in the wee distance. He is quite my little garden helper. However, here I think he is trying to use his back hoe to move one side of our yard to the other. That boy loves him some dirt!

We'll keep you posted with garden updates! I am hoping that these tiny little things can hold on with all the rain I see in our forecast. No need to lay the alpalpha down just yet!

My new Love...

Let's just say I have a new love in my life......



I know it is sad that my mouth waters as I see the cart loads of other peoples "junk" rolled out before me. Poor little Hannah has become victum to it all. Though, she is learning the in's and out's quite fast. And for Ryan, he thinks it's a bit odd, but is always amused with what I can turn out.


I am addicted to turning other peoples "trash" into something that I can use at home. After digging through the troughs at my local Goodwill store ( wipes always in hand). It's amazing some things that people give away. Above is one of my resent favorite finds. I forgot to take a before shot. This was a Christmas tray with pine cones and ribbon painted all over it. I purchased this tray for $0.75 . After a few coats of Off White spray paint and a cute rub-on decal we had something I could really look at all for under $5.00! You can bet I will post some more "transformations" as they come along


Until then I must be off... I can hear Goodwill calling my name!
