Cute Fabric Headband

My fabric scrap pile is never ending and when I saw this I knew I had to try it.

I chose to tear my fabric strips so that I would have a "frayed" look. You can easily take the time to hem each strip. You want your strips to allow enough space{about 6 inches} for the elastic band.
Take three strands of fabric and clip one end with a binder clip. Then braid and binder clip the other end. Using my sewing machine I tacked each end down. Then repeated to create another braided strip.

Take one elastic pony tail holder and cut in half.
Place one pony tail holder end between the two braids and sew, backstitching several times. Repeat with the other side.

That’s it, You're done!
Then came the 10 year old test….

She wore it all day and never complained that it bothered her!

Fabulous!

The 10 Blinking Red Lights of DEATH!

Two years ago my husband and I decided that we “needed” to increase the size of our flat screen in the living room. I decided that we also needed to upgrade the couch too!

Thus, moving the current TV into our bedroom and purchasing the “much needed” larger screen for the living room.

Everything has been just peachy, until last week when hubby turned on the TV to catch a game and nothing.

Oh, we have sound because that is wired through our receiver but the TV was dead… except for 10 blinking red lights. Now known as the blinking red light of DEATH!
I was quick to log onto Panasonic’s website and have a live chat with a technician. Who, in a long and friendly way, told us we were hosed. Informing me that the one year warranty was up and we had not purchased the extended warranty.

He kindly referred me to a local technician who intern kindly told me that it will cost about $490 to fix! That blue arrow is showing you how I tried to blame the plug in and drug an extinction cord to another outlet, still nothing!

I ‘m beginning to think it’s been nice without TV in the living room and I am sure that I could find a fabulous picture to hang there for half the price!

We have decided to take the TV down ourselves and take it to the technician. This will save us $100, if all goes well and we don’t drop the larger screen that we “needed” in the process! Please say a little prayer, and if anyone has had this happen and has a better option please let me know!

Easy Chicken Pot Pie

This recipe has what I call the Fab Five and comes from one of my must loved old cookbooks.

It's easy, quick, cheap, healthy and good!
Here is what you will need

1          Can reduced fat Cream of Chicken soup
1          box premade pie crust {with two crusts}
2          small cans of all white chicken {I have used baked          chicken breast before}
1 Can mixed vegetables {I have also used frozen and fresh}

Line a pie plate with one pie crust. Drain the canned chicken and dump into large bowl adding canned vegetables, drained and the t Cream of Chicken soup mix well and pour into your pie crust. Top mixture with remaining pie crust and bake at 350* for one hour.
This is a great healthy version and has lots of flavor. But, don’t get me wrong this is not your 50 fat gram pot pie from KFC.
Happy Cooking!I will be linking up to all these great sites today. If you’re hungry stop on by! Tempt My Tummy - Tuesday at the Table - Tasty Tuesday

Just added 18 games to my calendar...how about you?

Ah fall, crisp fresh air, pumpkin baking, homemade potato soup and 18 games of soccer and flag football.

And so it has begun…
Hannah had her first fall soccer game last weekend.

However the 90 temp and humidity made it fell a bit more like the dog days of summer.
Gabe was really enjoying watching Hannah’s game, can’t ya’ tell!

An hour and a half latter
Gabe was preparing for his first “football” game.
And time to down the coveted cleats!
He is the quarterback and daddy was giving a last minute prep talk on how to catch the ball.
And so was his coach!
He had two games back-to-back
Trying to stay cool between games made me wish that I had been a Gator way back when!
Hannah seemed a tad bit more interested in his games and he had been at hers!

Here Gabe is telling his coach that he doesn’t need to pass off the ball because he can run really fast.
Then when he tried he didn’t know just how to get around all 4 defensive “men”.
But the second time he was going
Going...
Gone…TOUCHDOWN.
Then it was time for a sno cone.

A look into the Past

My mom gifted me an old sewing basket that she picked up at an Antique Store she visited a few weeks back.

I love to look into other people’s lives, seeing what and how they kept things.

I wish that they still used wood spools for thread.
I love the color and fonts on them all.

She used old tin containers, now vintage.
To store tiny buttons, safety pins and snaps.
And this keychain I assume was a promotional item used by the fabric store that she shopped.
Kay-Det shoulder boards.
I cleaned up the basket and plan on using it myself.

And remembered a post that I saw here on using old wood spools and decided to make me a few.
Yes, I know it's a safety hazard to use a hand saw this way.

But I was to lazy to clamp them down.
After sawing a little through the side
They make perfect holders for pictures
And vintage postcards.
