Lucky 13!

It's hard to believe that I celebrated my 13th wedding anniversary this weekend.After the wedding, on our way to the hotel, we had our limo driver stop by where we had meet 5 years earlier...Target!

It was 1991 and I was just weeks shy of turning 17 and Ryan had just finished his freshman year of college. I had made a late night run into Target to purchase the new cassette tape of a band called the Cure. Ryan happened to also be there with a few of his buddies buying boxer shorts. After my car didn't start and the boys were near by , the rest is history. It just so happened we had grown up less than 3 miles from each other and our paths had never crossed until that night. He called me the next day and 18 years later we are still that same cute couple parked outside Target. Maybe with just a few more laugh lines and a mortgage payment.

On another note...Life and work have kept me very busy these past few weeks and I am expecting it to for the next few. But it has been heavy on my heart that I share this with you.

I love all Holidays that allow my creative juices to flow. But, Halloween is a tricky one. Let me start by stating that I in NO WAY support the meaning behind this pagan holiday. I, like many other Americans, celebrate the secular side of Halloween. Never will I promote witches, devils and the evil that Halloween stands for. I do however celebrate pumpkins and share with my kiddos how neat it is to see God's creations down to all His tiny details{pumkin seeds n' all}. It gives my family an opportunity to witness to those around us with a small gift and a smile. Now, if only if I can convert other Americans away from the secular side of Christmas to the true meaning of the birth of our Lord and Savior. This should be each of ours daily goal.

Deep in the Heart of Texas!

Ever wonder what the fair looks at 7:46 A.M.? Yep, we have lost our minds arriving at 7:46 A.M. for an 11 A.M. kickoff!
This past weekend we ventured down to Dallas for the Red River Rival and a visit to the State Fair.

My kiddos absolutely love this fair. We let the "big boys" go to the football game and then the kids and I hit the fair.

Now , I am not the fair going type. But during the game all is quite. And this is the cleanest fair that I have ever been too.

We visited a fabulous petting zoo. With zebras, kangaroos, giraffes and all kids of baby animals.

Rode lots of rides but, this ole' potato sack slide was hands down our favorite!

Then I was off in search for the fried butter. I found fried latte...
fried pecan pie and cheesecake...and then there it was right next to the fried cookie dough and P.B.&J sandwich!

For the record I did not try any of these but they all had a "hearty" line of people waitin'.

Especially Fletcher's Corn Dog, yum!

Red River Weekend!

The family and I are headed South of the Red River for our annual track to the OU vs. Texas Football game and the Great State Fair of Texas! I hear this year they have flavored fried butter! I let ya' know Monday.

Have you met Matthew yet?

Well I have and he has some fabulous ideas!
Matthew Mead has a wonderful Halloween magazine/book out this fall. So much eye candy that my mind was on overload.
So this weekend I decided to raid the kiddos craft room and try out one of his ideas. It required large muffin liners, googly eye balls and fishing wire. I came up with two out of three things I needed and decided that my white thread would do just fine in place of the fishing wire.


I was thankful to see the googly eye balls we had were a peel and stick{please ignore the lovely hair stuck in all that mess}. I had planned on hot glue but this worked out perfect.

Just place the eyes up high then string and knot your thread on a needle. Go in the bottom of cupcake and thread out the other end. Now we have lots of little white {non-scary} ghost to grace our party.

Sharpie and matte board don't mix!

I picked up two of these nice wood frames at Goodwill last week for $3 dollars.

They where both gold with three 5X7 gold inlay mattes. The frame I could handle and I thought a sharpie would do the trick on the matte...umm that would be a negative! I didn't take a picture of how bad it turned out you will just have to trust me on this one.

Now I need to buy a new matte for both of them to match. But until then I went ahead and framed some pictures of our recent trip to N.Y.C. So much cheaper than Hobby Lobby! I only wished I would have kept the lid on the sharpie!
