Panic Mode Party Treats!

Here is a great little “what the heck am I going to make for my daughters class party tomorrow?” treat .

Yes, this is what I threw together in desperation for my daughters Fall Party today.

I used what I had around the house.

An unopened bag of mini marshmallows, black hemp string, pretzel bags {yes, I keep a stash off all shapes of clear bags, my sister calls me Bree} and a black sharpie.

First I drew on a face using my sharpie then filled them up, leaving a bit at the top to tie off with my string.

And that was it! Cute, quick and no baking required!

A Yankee Baseball Birthday Party

Today my baby boy turns 6 years old.

I think I will have to always refer to him as my baby boy, even when he is 35.

This past weekend we celebrated the much anticipated Yankee Birthday Party. After watching the Yankee’s loose to the Rangers just the night before and a day filled with rain and drizzle, we still managed to have a good time.

Here are the invites that we found on ebay, not sure how they get away making these {legal}!

The cake and ice cream table was set up inside at the kitchen table.

With Peanuts

And cracker jacks.

Logo hats ready for ice cream to be dipped up.

And chocolate cupcakes to devour!

We planned for a fun filled day in the back yard playing a game of baseball and the dizzy bat spin race. And then it rained and rained and rained…

The party was moved to our garage.

Just the place everyone dreams to welcome guests into!

Yes, I was frustrated at first but then seeing Gabe getting all excited it really didn’t matter how the party went down. HE was having a blast.

Concessions were set up along one wall of the garage

and I put my volunteer staff to work.

They all wanted a turn at dishing out the hotdogs and working the nacho bar.

We didn''t have a baseball  game but we did have a hopper race

And let me tell you my son can sweat up a storm in his sleep, no lie!

My nephew enjoyed the mud the most.

It was time to blow out the candles

Crack open the piƱata and watch them go mad!

Everyone took home a goodie bag, Yankee cup and their hopper!

And little man slept with a smile on his face all night long, mission accomplished!

Panini , Panini!

My mom gifted me a Panini Grill a few months ago and we are loving it.

Last night I threw together a quick family favorite.

I have named it Grilled Chicken Grilled Cheese, so original I know!
Starting with 2 sliced grilled chicken breast, 8 slices of cooked bacon, sliced mozzarella or Swiss, pesto sauce and Focaccia Bread. {makes four large sandwiches}

Layer them all up and grill in your press about 5-8 minutes depending on how crisp you like them.
Quick and simple perfect to go with my Grandma’s Homemade Veggie Soup!

If you are looking for something to ask Santa for, this might be just the perfect thing!

Gotta Love a Foam Core Board!

Our master bedroom curtains really needed a little “umff”. So you know that meant  I had to get my thinking hat on!

I remembered a post I read here about how she created a pelmet box for her daughter’s bedroom windows. It was fast, cheap and looked fabulous! All those things fit into my requirement box!

Here is what we had before I got to work.
Yes, I know the pictures stink; the light just did not want to work with me.
And neither did my sheet rock.

Ummm… looks like I will be googling “how to patch holes in your sheet rock” sooner than later.
I purchased 2 large foam core boards, 2 small foam core boards, light batting {from the bolt}, "look of leather" fabric { face it, it's up high and none will ever be that close to it} and nail head trim.
I started by measuring the length and deepth I wanted them to be, then using an x-acto knife cut them out to fit.
Clear packing tape was used to hold them together.

Then a staple gun was brought in to secure the batting and fabric to the foam core. Then I pushed the nail head trim in just like a thumb tack and I was done.

My only dilemma was how to hang them. Sure, they where light weight but the size of them was unreal. I ended using super glue to glue on a metal curtain rod.

Before and afters from my latest visit to Goodwill.

Love the lines on this metal cake stand that I picked up for $1.00

A little black spray paint and it became the perfect pumpkin stand.

For the past year I have been looking for a lazy susan for my spice cabinet. Yes, I know you can find them all the time, even at Wal-Mart.
But I was looking for wood, small in diameter to fit in the cabinet and it needed to stand up a bit higher to clear the lip of the cabinet.

It was a perfect fit all for $1.00.
I made this FREE 8x10 college print from Walgreens for Ryan’s office. It fit perfect in my $.99 black wood frame.
And last, but not least, this silver shinny acorn dish
Was spray painted a nice matte caramel color and I added some acorns I already had.
Can’t wait for my next visit, you just never know what you will come across.
